Tor Erik Seime Pettersen studied with Audun Kayser at the Grieg Academy of Music in Bergen, where he graduated in 2008 with highest grade. He is regularly performing as a soloist, and is also in great demand as an accompanist. Though his core repertoire is the romantic piano tradition, he also has a strong interest for the piano music of Harald Sæverud, the local composer in whose home at Siljustøl, he was given his first piano lessons. Pettersen has regularly performed with different orchestras and wind bands; Gershwins’s Rhapsody in Blue and Griegs a-minor concerto. In 2006, he was selected to play Khachaturian’s piano concerto with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, at their annual concert for Young Soloists. Pettersen has twice achieved the 2nd prize of the prestigious Norwegian Youth Piano Championship, and he received support from Sigmund Skage’s Memorial Fund in 2000. Together with the violinist Michael Süssmann, Pettersen also has performed in the Baltics, Belgium, and Spain. He is now preparing his master degree under professor Håkon Austbø at the Stavanger Music Conservatory.
