The Hansa String Quartet (Hansakvartetten) was established in 1987 by musicians from the Bergen Philharmonic. Today members are Åsta Jørgensen (1. violin), Hayato Naka (2.violin), Helga Steen (viola), and Walter Heim (violoncello). The quartet`s repertoir is wide and ranges from baroque to contemporary music, where music by Norwegian and Nordic composers has an important place, including Grieg`s string quartet, which the quartet has performed several times at Grieg`s home “Troldhaugen”. The Hansa String Quartet has performed numerous times during Bergen International Festival and also at the Borealis Festival. In 1996 it recorded the entire string quartet works by the Norwegian composer Harald Sæverud, and in 2002 the quartet released its second CD with works by Hvoslef, Bergh, and Sivertsen. The Hansa String Quartet has frequently also contributed inside other music styles, together with jazz pianist Dag Arnesen, together with choirs, at the National Theatre, and many recordings for Norwegian National Broadcasting. The quartet has participated at festivals such as “Hardingtonar”, “Valen Festival”, as well as recording music for “Peer Gynt” by composer Ketil Hvoslef. The quartet has also been special dedicated to the chamber music works by Fartein Valen. PROGRAM 2010ONLINE TICKETS: JUNE JULY AUGUST
